Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse B performs nursing process with minimal supervision; seeks assistance as necessary. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Functions in a skills mix environment and directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. Meets qualifications, licensure/certifications, and competencies. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Associateâs Degree in nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters in Nursing preferred. Minimum of one year of experience of med/surg preferred. Minimum of one year of age group preferred. Minimum of one year of experience in acute psychiatric of age group and chemical dependency/detox preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Current and unrestricted California license. Psychiatric nursing or clinical specialist certification preferred. Chemical dependency nursing certification or specialist preferred. Current basic life support certification. Knowledge of psychotropic medications. Knowledge of appropriate age group. Basic clinical skills in delivery of nursing care in acute care facility. Ability to speak clearly in person and over the phone; ability to write clearly and concisely; ability to listen well and interact appropriately with other employees and outside agencies; ability to input data into computer; good eye-hand coordination. Ability to develop positive therapeutic interactions with patient, patient families, co-workers, supervisors, medical staff and outside agencies; maintains calm demeanor in crisis situations; communicates clearly and effectively; delegates effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to assess patientsâ conditions, interpret care plan, comprehend appropriate interventions, evaluate patient response to care, teach patients and families; requires higher level mental faculties accompanied by short and long-term memory; ability to concentrate on several assignments simultaneously; ability to edit, organize and prioritize; ability to work with limited supervision; ability to execute duties in an efficient manner with attention to detail; ability to receive and accurately carry out instructions. **If in a recovery program, at least two years of sobriety is required for staff and at least 5 years for Management.** (9/23/10 B6141)
