BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Behavioral Health Services consists of four divisions which provide a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care. The divisions include: Adult Mental Health Services, Children and Youth Mental Health Services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services and Prevention & Intervention Services.

Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS)

Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) provides recovery mental health services and episodic treatment services which emphasize individual needs, strengths, choices, and involvement in service planning and implementation. Adults who have a serious and persistent mental disorder and may have a co-occurring substance abuse disorder and impairment in t! heir ability to function in the community or who have a histor! y of recurring substantial functional impairment, hospitalization or symptoms can access services. Services include assessment, evaluation, collateral therapy, individual and group therapy, substance abuse treatment, medication support, rehabilitation, linkage and consultation, placement, plan development, crisis intervention and specialized residential services.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (ADAS)

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services (ADAS) provides a range of outpatient and residential treatment programs designed to reduce or eliminate the abuse of alcohol and other drugs within the community.

Services include crisis intervention, assessment and evaluation; individual, group and family counseling, HIV education, pre- and post-test counseling, and voluntary testing; counseling and testing; referrals to other programs when indicated; and outreach to schools and the general community. Specialized programs provide services for pregnant and parenting w! omen, persons who require methadone maintenance and detoxification, adolescents, persons who have a substance use disorder with co-occurring mental illness, and individuals referred by the Orange County Collaborative Court.

Children and Youth Mental Health Services (CYS)

CYS regional clinics are within five geographic areas located throughout Orange County. Within the regional systems, outpatient services are provided at multiple clinics, many of them located on school sites. They are staffed by professionals in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, family therapy and nursing.

Regional CYS clinics serve children and adolescents who require mental health services. Problems may include disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, sleep and eating disorders, adjustment or personality disorders, other severe emotional disorders and family problems. Children who receive services under Short/Doyle Medi-Cal and who have ! been diverted from hospitalization or receive support services as part ! of the after-care plan developed during their hospitalization are also served in regional clinics.

Prevention and Intervention Services (P &I)

Prevention and Intervention Division provides a variety of program services, and the majority of the program services are funded by MHSA/ PEI. These prevention and early intervention services are provided in the community at a variety of locations including schools, Family Resource Centers, Youth Reporting Centers, shelters, transitional living centers and participants' homes. Programs work with children, transitional age youth and adults, and programs are highly family focused. Programs aim to prioritize underserved populations, remove barriers to accessing services early and eliminate/ reduce the stigma and discrimination of receiving behavioral health services. A primary goal of these services is to intervene early prior to a behavioral health diagnosis and/or provide services at first onset.

THE CURR! ENT OPPORTUNITY:
Provide both individual and group inventions, such as psycho-educational groups, parent training, brief individual counseling, brief family counseling, case-management, referral and linkage to community services. Utilize a variety of evidence-based practices in interventions provided to the community.

Screen participants for program eligibility, and conduct both individual and family needs assessments.

Conduct outreach to prospective participants and promote services to community providers.

Collects both demographic and outcomes data to measure impact of program and changes in behavioral health. Responsible for chart documentation which may include service plans and progress notes.

Participates in the on-going development and implementation of program and may complete a variety of projects to accomplish this task.

Collaborate with all community partners and participate in a variety of meetings and committ! ees.

Clinical Social Worker I

Education:
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited school or department of social work.

Licensure/Certification Required

Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. Employees are eligible to remain in this class as long as they are eligible to practice under a waiver provided for in Section 4996.18 of the Business and Professions Code. If by the end of the waiver period, licensure has not been obtained, employment shall be subject to immediate termination.

Clinical Social Worker II

Education:
Possession of a master's degree from an accredited school or department of social work.

License/Certificati! on Required:
Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.

Possession of a valid California Driver License is required for most positions.

Marriage Family Therapist I

Possession of a doctorate or master's degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, social work, clinical psychology, counseling, counseling psychology, child development and family studies, or a degree determined by the Board of Behavioral Sciences to be equivalent, obtained from a school, college, or university accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools, or an essentially equivalent accrediting agency as determined by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

License Required

Employees are eligible to remain in this class for up to six years as long as they are registered Marriage and Family Therapist Interns ! and meet the requirements as provided in Section 4980.44 of the Busines! s and Professional Code. If by the end of their registered marriage and Family Therapist Intern period licensure has not been obtained, their employment shall be subject to immediate termination.

Marriage Family Therapist II

License Required:
Possession of a valid license to practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Possession of a valid California Driver License, Class 3 or higher, may be required for some positions.

Work experience providing prevention and early intervention behavioral health services, experience working with families, knowledge of MHSA and behavioral health/ community resources in Orange County, and experience collaborating with community service providers and bilingual in one of the threshold languages.
