Registered Nurse using professional skills and knowledge to provide safe and effective telephone advice, patient care instructions and direction to th! e appropriate level of care of Molina members.

Essential Functions

  • Completes a telephone assessment using standardized nurse protocols to evaluate the patient's health status and provide home care instruction, health education, and /or direction appropriate level of care.
  • Documents and maintains accurate records of telephone assessment, interventions and disposition into the nurse advice software system.
  • Conducts follow-up telephone calls of all nurse advice encounters to assess the outcome of the initial nurse advice provided, and /or re-triage if the prior presenting symptoms continue or worsening.
  • Using nursing assessment skills, patients will be identified and referred to the appropriate disease management and medical case management programs.
  • Participates in mentoring new nurses as needed.
  • Actively participates in internal quality and work flow enhancement projects, and other duties, as assigned. Mainta! ins Clinical Telephone nurse advice standards in accordance wi! th established policies and procedures. Maintains Molina office standards in accordance with HIPAA and Clinical Telephonic Services.
  • Complies with required workplace safety standards. Participates in the Clinical Telephonic Services Quality Improvement Program by attending regular staff meetings, in-services, and identifying and reporting issues to the appropriate management personnel for intervention and /or referring to the appropriate department(s) at the local state level.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proficiency with PC-based systems and the ability to learn new information systems and software programs
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal legislation (Nursing Practice Act)
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to function independently and autonomously
  • Must be organized and flexible
  • Must be willing to apply for R.N. licensure in multiple states
  • Excellent interpersonal and! verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to abide by Molina's policies
  • Ability to maintain attendance to support required quality and quantity of work
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers and customers
Required Education:
Registered Nurse Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Required Experience:
3 years acute care experience in Critical care, Emergency Medicine or Med. Surgery; may substitute equivalent or comparable experience.

Required Licensure/Certification:
Current California RN License. Current BLS Certification.
