Under direction, to compound ! and dispense pharmaceutical drugs, medicines and prescriptions, and provide direct consultative services to health care professionals and patients regarding drug therapy.
The Pharmacist provides professional pharmacy services in a primary care clinic, detention or correction facility, mental health facility, or other health care setting.
Examples of Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge Of:
Pharmaceutical arithmetic, chemistry, materia-medica, and pharmacology.
Pharmaceutical manufacturing methods.
Federal and State laws relative to dispensing and use of narcotics, poisons, and drugs.
Principles and methods for curriculum and training design; instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
Ability To:
Compound a wide variety of drugs and medicines.
Assimilate and provide information on drugs and their actions.
Advise and consult with medical and nursi! ng staff regarding the properties of drug substances.
! Counsel patients regarding use, possible side effects, and storage of medication.
Maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and patients.
Conduct drug research and drug utilization studies.
Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records.

Minimum Qualifications :
Possession of a valid license as a Registered Pharmacist issued by the State of California, Board of Pharmacy.
Certificates/licenses: Document Required With Application: Applicants MUST submit a copy of their current California Pharmacist License with their application. Failure to submit a copy of the required documentation will result in your disqualification from the examination.
General Qualifications
Driver's License: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of appointment. Failure to obtain or maintain such required license(s) ma! y be cause for disciplinary action in accordance with Civil Service Rules. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be considered for accommodation on a case-by-case basis.
Probationary Period: The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.

FORMULA RATE EXAMINATION (Weighted 100%)
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by the cut-off date will have their Sup! plemental Questionnaire scored in the Formula Rate Examination.
This examination will evaluate the relevance, level, recency, progression and quality of candidate's education, training and experience. The candidate's application or other materials will not be included in this examination. Therefore, the candidate's responses to the supplemental questionnaire should be thorough, detailed and complete. The score from the Formula Rate Examination will determine the ranking on the eligible/employment list for this job.
All candidates competing in the testing process will receive written notice of their examination results either by email or mail based on their notification preference. Applicants achieving a passing score will be placed on the eligible list in rank order. The rank is determined by the test score attained from the examination.
