Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant supports the physician and nursing staff in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of medically related tasks including greeting patients, manage patient care flow, prepares patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record. The Medical Assistant also takes vital signs, sets up exam rooms and assists provider in examination/procedure rooms. Additional duties include administering immunization, injections, or oral medications as directed by provider; draws, prepares designated lab work and/or specimens; performs diagnostic tests; assists in follow-up scheduling needs, prepares charts as needed and serves as advocate for patient.
Primary Qualifications:
To perform effectively in this position the incumbent must have Medical Assistant certification from the state of CA or an accredited school. Phlebotomy Certified is preferred . Two to five (2-5) years experience. Experience in a community clinic setting is preferred. Experience in gynecology clinic setting is a plus. Candidate must have i ntermediate computer skills and e xperience with i2i and Health Port is a plus. Candidate must have basic understanding of patient care flow and insurance concepts. Candidate should have the ability to perform basic testing and specimen collection and demonstrate basic understanding of cleaning, sterilization of autoclaving procedures. Demonstrated ability to problem solve and prioritize work assignments; Demonstrated ability to handle provider correspondence and communications as related to clinical care. Fluency in written and spoke n English is required. D emonstrated ability to relate to individuals representing a variety of backgrounds and cultures and a willingness to commit to the philosophy and goals of the Clinic is preferred.
