The Physician Assistant functions under the general Physician Assistant Role Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions pertaining to the Service, Clinic or Department are established by the physician assistant and his or her supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Medical Board and Board of Directors.
Job Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Physician Assistant
License/Certification: PA - Possession of a valid certification to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the California State Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
License/Certification: Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of California is required.
License/Certification: BLS - Basic Life Support, required.
License/Certification: DEA - DEA Number from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, required.
License/Certification: Must be board certified from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) at the time of hire and maintain certification during employment at SHC.
License/Certification: Chemotherapy certification, preferred.
Minimum of two years experience at the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner level in the specialty of Medical Oncology preferred.
