Director of Nursing (DON) Job Description:
The Director of Nursing ( DON ) / Registered Nurse ( RN ) is accountable and responsible for planning, directing and evaluating activities of the nursing department, including implementation of the department's philosophy and goals, standards for nursing practice and the management an! d development of nursing personnel. The Nursing Director / Reg! istered Nurse provides leadership and direction in all nursing matter.
Eligible Director of Nursing ( DON ) / Registered Nurse ( RN ) candidates will possess skills necessary to coordinate resident care activity relating to resident assessments, medication management, and overall resident satisfaction. In the DON / Registered Nurse ( RN ) position you will perform general management functions such as hiring, disciplining and evaluating employees.
The Nursing Director / Registered Nurse’s primary goal will be to manage the Nursing Department to achieve and maintain the quality of health care. You'll choose and develop your staff, be a born organizer and handle emergency situations. You also realize that Nursing isn't just about medical care; it's about knowing your residents and fulfilling their needs.
Director of Nursing Job Requirements:
Current / Active state Registered Nurse licensure Must meet all local health regulations; pass po! st-offer drug test, and post-offer employment physical exam if required Must meet Operational and Clinical Competency requirements upon hire and as needed Must be able to relate professionally, positively, and cooperatively with resident resident/patients, resident/patient’s family members, facility staff, and direct reports Valid CPR certification Knowledge of current nursing practices with strong interpersonal and Leadership skills are required Good computer skills
