The Administrative Nursing Manager (ANM) coordinates the delivery of patient care in the hospital on assigned shift.

This position provides administrative supervision and support on a 24 hour basis in order to provide cost-effective, high quality care according to hospital standards, accreditation standards and regulatory requirements and as a resource for Charge nurses.

Maintains effective relationships with hospital departments providing support services and assists with risk management activities, protecting hospital assets from loss through risk identification and control. In addition, provides leadership support to Director/Manager of assigned service.

Qualifications

! Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing! . Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Health Management preferred.

Valid License/Certification:
Ø

Required:
o

Registered Nurse in the State of California

o

Basic Life Support-C Provider

o

Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider

o

Pediatric Advanced Life Support

o

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

o

Management of Assaultive Behavior within 90 days of hire; maintain annually

Ø

Preferred:
o

Basic Life Support Instructor

o

Emergency Department:
CEN/CCRN

o

ICU/MS:
CCRN

Experience:
Minimum of three years of acute care nursing and management experience required.

Clinical nursing with recent and progressive leadership, management responsibilities and critical care experience.

Knowledge of:
Ø

Federal and! state licensing and regulatory standards, accreditation and clinical practice standards.

Ø

Various approaches to patient care delivery, applying relevant clinical concepts, acuity systems and productivity management.

Skills:
Ø

Effective leadership and employee engagement skills.

Exhibits behaviors set forth in the NCH Service Excellence Standards on a consistent basis.

Ø

Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Ø

Excellent written and oral communication skills applied in a diverse population with patients and patient families, colleagues, managers, medical staff and community members.

Ø

Understands age specific needs in providing care to patient population served.

Ø

Computer literate.

Ability to:
Ø

Serve as a clinical and operational resource to the nursing staff and other departments.

Ø
Manage nursing staff resources to ensure hospital is staffed with! correct number of clinical employees to support census/acuity/ unit operational needs.

Ø

Plan, organize and communicate a team approach to care.

Ø

Apply critical thinking skills and to adapt to a variety of situations.

Ø

Develop and teach others, make decisions, prioritize and set clear expectations.

Ø

Perform complete physical assessment of patient, provide patient care, or assist in activities of daily living.

Ø

Perform relative clinical experience (ex: venipuncture, IV therapy, positioning of patient, and/or assisting with ambulation and patient transfers).

Ø

Quickly obtain, position and demonstrate expertise in the use of necessary equipment/crash cart for patient emergencies.
