POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Program Director or Team Leader, Psychiatric Technician (PT) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides an array of quality services to assist consumers in reaching their optimum level of functioning and improved quality of life. Specific duties include providing medication support to the psychiatrists in the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to Pacific Clinicsâ Standard of Care and Best Practices.
- Consider consumer and family-centered approach to services in all treatmen! t activities.
- Assess for co-occurring substance abuse! disorders, makes appropriate plans of action including education about the effects of using substances, referrals to services, and communicates findings and recommendations to the treatment team.
- Provide education to consumers and families to assure medication adherence.
- Discuss and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including pharmacies regarding medication issues and ensuring continuity of care.
- Provide medication services as needed in an individualâs home, field, or school, including providing transportation as needed.
- Complete lab requisitions as ordered by site psychiatrist or nurse practitioner in a timely manner.
- Provide medication services individually and in groups.
- Maintain medication room in accordance with Medi-Cal regulations.
- Review lab results within 24 hours of receipt and immediately communicate any variances to the prescribing staff (Medical Director, Psychiatrist, and Nurse Pr! actitioner).
- Provide appropriate level of client contact determined by consumer need and / or program requirements.
- Participate in rotation of on-call services, outside of normal business hours by telephone and/or in the field.
- Ensure that services provided meet medical necessity.
- Obtain vital signs as needed or directed by prescriber.
- Provide case management services as needed.
- Documents all services pursuant to funding source directives, Pacific Clinics' protocol and HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Completes all documentation within the timelines established by the Program for service delivery.
- Works on a multicultural team sensitive to the cultural and linguistic needs of the clients and families served.
- Completes billing expectations per Agency requirements and provides services consistent with program needs
- Attends and participates in staff meetings to provide input towards program! development and staff training.
- Interacts with other internal! programs, clinical/support staff and external sources such as school or community personnel as applicable.
- Reports to work on time and maintains reliable and regular attendance.
- Models Pacific Clinicsâ approach, mission and core values in all communication and correspondence.
- Communicates effectively in a culturally competent diverse consumer population and promotes favorable interaction with managers, co-workers and others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE/ POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
- Level I: Newly licens! ed in the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician or Vocational Nurse with up to three (3) years experience in psychiatric screening, medication education, management and administering prescribed medications. Relevant experience may also be considered.
- Level II: Licensed in the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician or Vocational Nurse with three (3) to five (5) years experience in psychiatric screening, medication education, and management and administering prescribed medications. Relevant experience may also be considered.
- Level III: Licensed in the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician or Vocational Nurse with five (5) to ten (10) years experience in psychiatric screening, medication education, and management and administering prescribed medications.
- Level IV: Licensed in the State of California as a Psychiatric Technician or Vocational Nurse with 10 or more years experience in psychiatric screening, medication educat! ion, management and administering prescribed medications. Relevant expe! rience may also be considered.
- Maintain current CPR Certification.
- Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Clinics' liability policy.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to relate to a culturally diverse clientele and staff.
- Bilingual skills in the appropriate language for the Clinicsâ clients are highly preferred and in some programs may be required.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand or sit. The employee is required to use hands to produce records and/or documentation in manual or electronic format and perform m! edical procedures pursuant to scope of practice within Pacific Clinicsâ guidelines, practices or policies. The employee must possess ability to ensure significant communication with the Clinicsâ community members. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 10 pounds.
