NURSE PRACTITI! ONER OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a Clinician in our Mission Viejo Health Center to provide quality patient care including exams, treatment, education, and counseling for patients in accordance with Organization protocols. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday).
You will be responsible for providing care for family planning including but not limited to contraceptives and abortion services, as well as referrals and counseling. You will perform physical and gynecological examinations for female patients including review of medical history, screening for abnormalities, and performance, interpretation and/or ordering of laboratory tests. Perform genito-urinary exams of male patients in relation to testing and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
A current California Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certif! ied Nurse Midwife license is required. Primary health care exp! erience required. CPR certification required. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Must be available to work On-Call shifts to provide patient care up to six (6) days annually. You may be deployed to other sites in case of low volume or provider need including San Bernardino County locations.
Document patient data accurately and completely in the medical record and evaluate and treat medical problems, ensuring follow-up and appropriate referrals as necessary. Educate and counsel patients in reproductive health issues, perform pelvic exams to estimate length of pregnancy, dispense prescription medications under standing order, and supervise follow-up procedures for abnormal laboratory results.
You must adhere to Organization policies, procedures and protocols. This may include successfully completing Organization, regional and/or state certification requirements. You must adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic a! nd on the system for addressing client complaints. Participate in health center efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals as well as goals for productivity.
Participate in a team approach to patient care, and deliver care in a professional, confidential, and expeditious manner. Manage emergency situations as they arise in the center, and consult with Medical Doctor as necessary. If trained and utilized by manager to do so, provide prenatal services, IUD, Norplant and Implanon, insertions and removals, and colposcopy and cryotherapy treatment. Once trained, care for abortion (surgical and medical) patients, including ultrasounds and post-operative care.
Orient new clinicians as requested, and participate in a regularly scheduled peer review process when required. May assist and train with venipuncture and/or other triaging responsibilities as needed. May assist with ordering, packaging, and labeling of drugs.
The ideal candidate will have ! a strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer servic! e, and possess a warm, caring manner. After orientation, you must be capable of adjusting to patient flow per Organization guidelines. You must have the ability to relate to diverse communities and the ability to physically assist a patient in distress.
