Anesthesia Technician

Under the direction of the Operating Room Manager and Lead Anesthesia Technician, the Anesthesia Technician supports the anesthesiologists by preparation and set up of appropriate equipment and supplies for each surgical case. The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for the care, maintenance and functioning of equipment and monitoring supplies used by the anesthesia department. He/she is also available to assist Anesthesia providers with direct, non-nursing patient care as requested. The Anesthesia technician will work collaboratively with Charge Nurses, RN circulators, Surgical Technicians, and Equipme! nt Technicians.
Enters secure areas and medication st! orage areas as necessary to complete assigned duties. Handles or stocks non-controlled medications specific to completion of job duties.
Serving the greater Stanislaus County with 423 plus acute care beds, Memorial Medical Center provides a full continuum of care including 24-hour emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, nuclear medicine, dialysis therapy, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, physical therapy, and home health. Specialized care includes Memorial Regional Cancer Center and Memorial Heart Institute.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Completion of Anesthesia Technician Course
OR
two (2) years working/providing direct patient care in a Critical Care Setting.
Must possess an understanding of medical terminology to interpret physician instructions and also an understandi! ng of basic anatomy and physiology.
Ability to read, write, hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.
Must be able to travel in and out of Stanislaus County, including transcontinental travel. If MMC and/or own vehicle used on hospital business, must possess valid California Driver’s License and upon request proof of liability insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical knowledge of basic instruments and treatment procedures commonly used in the administration of anesthesia.
Ability to adapt and adjust equipment as needed to perform functions in the operating room.
Previous experience in management of airway.
