POSITION PURPOSE:
The Registered Nurse (RN) at Desert Aids Project provides direct and indirect patient care in the outpatient clinical setting and works closely with the care team in the clinic. The RN will meet or exceed established standards of care within the Health Center and the State Board of Nursing. The RN is accountable for their nursing practice, assigned patients, and will serve as an advocate for pat! ient/families and nursing. The RN will adhere to the principle! s of Service Excellence and the philosophy and mission of Desert AIDS Project in all aspects of job performance. This position works closely with various members of the care team including but not limited to: Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Clerical Staff, Medical Case Managers, and Home Care Staff.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:
 Assists the Clinical Nurse Manager and Clinical Charge Nurse with all aspects of clinical operations, patient care and follow-up.
 Works closely and effectively with all members of the patient care team.
 Coordinates monitors and documents the patient plan of care that is often augmented by the Medical Assistant or LVN.
 Coordinates and supervises patient flow in the clinic as needed.
 Performs triage of walk in patients and provides clinical assessments for scheduled and unscheduled clients.
 Prepares patients for physician appointments and follow up ! as necessary.
 Assists with medical and minor surgical procedures as needed.
 Works closely with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Case Management, and Home Care staff to ensure continuity of care.
 May perform duties of the Clinical Charge Nurse or Clinical Services Manager they are not available or as delegated.
 Will monitor patient lab results and work closely with clinical providers to determine the best plan of care for patients.
TRAINING EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
 Unrestricted RN licensure to practice nursing in the State of California.
 BSN required but may consider ADN based on experience.
 Minimum of two yearsÂ' experience in practice as a Registered Nurse. Preferably in acute care, out-patient clinic, urgent care setting, or similar facility. Familiarity with the Public Health Care System preferred but not required.
 Experience in laboratory interpretation, reporting and ability to manage crit! ical lab values appropriately with the physician.
 Ability to pro! vide patient teaching, discharge, and follow-up instructions.
 Able to multitask and manage a fast pace care environment with multiple conflicting priorities.
 Knowledge of HIV/AIDS care and treatment and sensitivity to issues and populations impacted by the disease
 Medical-Surgical Background preferred.
 Able to fully utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implantation, and evaluation in daily patient care.
 BLS-HC required.
 ACLS preferred or obtained within six months of hire.
 Fluent in English and Spanish preferred.

 Be a positive role model for staff and colleagues.
