PRIMARY PURPOSE
:
Under broad guidance, the Nurse is ! to be responsible for participating in the daily clinical oper! ations of the Care Center. Principal responsibilities include direct nursing care, case management, patient education, and focusing on patients with pregnancy complications.

Essential Functions:
A.
Technical Skills:
1. Coordinate out-patient care for the MFMA Care Center.
2. Triage patient calls to ensure patients receive a timely response. Forward urgent issues to providers.
3. Educate patients regarding labs, procedures, symptoms, medications, monitoring and other information as needed.
4. Review EPIC lab, imaging and procedure results. Forward abnormal results to MD.
5. Obtain orders as needed, review orders and complete referrals for medically necessary services, consult! s, equipment and supplies
6. Function as a liaison between administrative and clinical staff, as well as other departments involved with the care of patients.
7. Prescribe, alter, or discontinue medications as directed by the providers per RN standardized procedures.
B.
Critical and Analytical Thinking
1. Review new laboratory, procedure reports, consultations, and discharge plans via the electronic medical record in a timely manner. Perform clinical assessments. Notify the provider if lab results are out of the patientâs normal range. Arrange appropriate medical therapy under the guidance of the physicians.
2. Review and complete EPIC patient medication flow sheet, refill medications and initiate new prescriptions as written by MD or NP staff.
3. Review procedure reports and identify outcomes to be used in research databases.
C.
Communication (Oral and Written)
1. Manage and triage ! telephone follow-up and consultation calls from physicians and patients! .
2 Communicate clearly and concisely with physicians and NPs to assure accurate and timely patient care.
3. Document all activity in EPIC
4. Communicate clearly with the administrative staff to assure continuity of care and efficient operations.

1. Perform duties in a self-directed manner under the supervision and direction of the medical and administrative teams.
2. Ensure that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.

Quality:
1. Submit prescription refill requests to the pharmacy within 72 hours.
2. Inform the appropriate manager of quality concerns.
3. Develop and recommend policy and procedure change! s as needed.
4. Exhibit customer service focus in all internal and external relationships. Identify and exceed patient needs and expectations.
F. SPMF Citizenship:
Adheres to all Medical Center policies and procedures (i.e. Administrative and Human Resources), practices safe work habits, and engages in good business standards and practices.
REQUIREMENTS
:
Knowledge
:
1. BSN required.
2. Must have current California RN license.
3. Minimum of two years active clinical experience as a practicing nurse in OB related area required.
Skills and Abilities
:
1. Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
2. Must be able to handle multiple conflicting priorities and to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience Preferred
:
Labor and delivery, post partum and case management experienc! e preferred.
