POSITION OVERVIEW

• Provides professional nursing care to patients within the Emergency ! Department, utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care.
• Emergency Care is provided based on ages of the population served; Neonate, birth to 1 month - through geriatric - 65 years or older.
• The Emergency Department RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served in the Emergency Department.
• The scope of care provided in the Emergency Department involves the care of patients with various health problems with varied levels of complexity. BHS is an EMS Base Station Hospital.

The Emergency Department Nurse reports to the Emergency Department Nurse Manager or designee.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Current California RN license or ability to obtain prior to hire date
• Current CPR/BLS certification by the Americ! an Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or abil! ity to obtain prior to start date
• Current ACLS, PALS & MICN certification prior to hire or must enroll and complete the first available Barton University course
• Must complete first available Barton University Nonviolent Crisis Intervention course
• Must complete the requirements for Moderate Sedation Procedures within 6 months of hire
• TNCC and CEN preferred
• Completion of an accredited nursing program
• Minimum one year recent ER/ICU-CCU experience preferred
• Sufficient computer skills as are required to complete an online application and the pre- employment/annual Net Learning requirements
• In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferred

Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, including the handling of emergency or crisis situations

Subject to pressure due to irregular hours, frequent interruptions and stressful situations due to multiple demands
