Develops, interprets and directs the implementation of nursing philosophy and objectives, departmental policies and procedures, and applies recognized standards of nursing care and practice.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in nursing or closely related health field.
Two years of experience as a registered nurse providing technical and administrative supervision to registered nurses and other nursing staff in the provision of nursing care or services. Experience must have been gained within the last five years. A Master's degree in nursing administration may be substituted f! or one year of experience.
Current certification in accordance! with the American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program.
A current active license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Physical Class II â" Light: Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved. License(s) Required

License and Certification Information

Education and Experience Requirements
In order to receive credit for the required degree, you must include a legible copy of the official diploma or official transcripts from the accredited program which shows the area of specialization with your application at the time of ! filing. Applicants claiming experience in a state other than California must attach a copy of their registered nurse license from that state to the application at the time of filing. Experience claimed without the required evidence of licensure will not be considered. Accreditation Information Accreditation: Accredited institutions are those listed in the publications of regional, national or international accrediting agencies which are accepted by the Department of Human Resources. Publications such as American Universities and Colleges and International Handbook of Universities are acceptable references. Also acceptable, if appropriate, are degrees that have been evaluated and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from United States accredited institutions by an academic credential evaluation agency recognized by The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE). Examination Content This exam will! consist of a qualifying written test covering knowledge of nursing practice and theory, problem solving, communication skills, management and administrative ability.
Invitation letters for testing will be sent via email. Applicants who do not pass the written test will be notified by mail. WRITTEN TESTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.
